External corrosion direct assessment is an organized process to improve the structural integrity of the pipeline by analyzing and diminishing the loss caused due to corrosion. ECDA prevents the corrosion on structure reducing the impact of corrosion thus safeguarding our client’s structure.
- Locating and addressing the impact of corrosion
- Fixing the impact of corrosion
- Removal of the causes of corrosion
ECDA is a continuous process to improve structural integrity, by using ECDA Consultech’s Team of AMPP (NACE) certified engineers to find out the locations of corrosion on the pipeline and fix the location of corrosion. Locations, where potentially corrosion can occur, are also located an expert report is made by our engineers for our clients.
ECDA comprises 4 steps:
Preassessment step
In this step, a detailed report is generated by a licensed software Right-of-Way Pro (ROW PRO), Inspection of the historic data and current condition of the pipeline data is collected.
- Defining ECDA regions to be done
Indirect inspection step
In this step, indirect testing is done of the structure, the following methods are used
- Close interval survey (CIS)
- Direct and alternating current voltage gradient surveys (DCVG/ACVG)
- Pipeline current mapping (PCM)
Direct Examination
In this step, the analysis of indirect inspection data is done. Through analysis, our team of engineers finds out the severity of corrosion and its location. Inspection of the following is done.
- Pipeline coating faults are found
- Overall cathodic protection system condition
- The defects in the pipeline
- Damage to pipeline due to corrosion
- Soil resistivity and Ph at pipeline location
Post Assessment
After the following steps, a detailed post-assessment report is compiled by our engineers the report includes
- In-depth details of the tests done
- The outcome of the tests
- The recommendation necessary for pipeline corrosion prevention and protection.
Qualified Consultech engineers conduct and analyze the outcome for all of these ECDA tests for pipeline.
Benefits of using Consultech:
